BROADCAST OF READING MATERIAL

Beginning from the Independence Day in 2004, a unique project was undertaken for providing convenient access to information content required by college going students with visual impairment. In consultation with the end users and the faculty members, reading material most vitally required by the students with visual impairment are recorded in CD format. The recorded materials are broadcast through various FM Community Radio Stations for the benefit of college students with visual impairment. For this first of its kind in the country project, a collaborative endeavour with Community Radio Stations of Anna FM, MOP Vaishnava College, Pondicherry Central University and Kalpakkam FM Station and a recording unit based in Madurai has been taken through the years yielding positive feedback from end users.
