PLACEMENT
NIEPVD- Regional Centre, since its inception in the year 1988, concentrates in exploring employment opportunities for the candidates with visual impairment after completion of vocational training in the Centre. Many of the candidates with visual impairment, completed training in the Regional Centre have been placed in Central and State Government Departments, Public Sector Undertakings like Banks and Insurance Companies and made efforts to earn income through self employment.
A two- fold strategy is evolved to get placement for the visually impaired clients trained at the Regional Centre. A database of the persons with visual impairment is maintained in the unit. The Placement Officer facilitates the clients to apply online through the source of advertisements in various newspapers and websites for posts reserved for persons with visual impairment. Necessary information about jobs is regularly informed to the former trainees and present trainees of this Centre. These candidates are liaise with private employers is also made from time to time to seek employment opportunities for the clients. Further, the Placement Officer visits various companies to liaise directly with the employers to explore work opportunities for clients. The clients are also encouraged to participate in job fairs conducted by various organizations, Government and NGOs.
The Centre is looking forward to organise a Job Fair exclusively for persons with visual impairment shortly in order to offer jobs to them for their income generation.
