To provide the visually impaired college going students with easy and convenient access to required information content, a unique project has been in existence at the regional centre since August 15, 2004. In consultation with the end users and the faculty members, reading materials required for the visually impaired students are recorded in CD format. These recorded materials are broadcast by the various FM Community Radio Stations for the benefit of visually impaired college students. This collaborative endeavor with Community Radio Stations of Anna FM, MOP Vaishnava College, Pondicherry Central University and Kalpakkam FM Station is first of its kind in India. Also, positive feedback from the end users is obtained through a recording unit established in Madurai.
